Honey

"Golden hum fills the air,
Hāmākua’s wings in flight,
Sweet gifts in the sun."
Honey from Haiku Acres
Harvested from the Hāmākua Coast, where fertile volcanic soil nurtures an ever-blooming paradise, our honey is a reflection of the land—lush, vibrant, and kissed by the ocean breeze. Each batch carries the rhythm of the seasons, shifting between whispers of passion fruit, mango, and delicate floral notes.
Every jar holds the essence of nature’s poetry, much like the haiku we write for our bees. Pure, raw, and deeply rooted in the magic of Hāmākua—this is honey with a soul.

About us
Nestled along the breathtaking Hāmākua Coast, where emerald cliffs meet the endless Pacific, Haiku Acres is more than an apiary—it’s a living story of heritage, stewardship, and beekeeping. Guided by "mālama ka ‘āina", we honor the land and the quiet magic of bees, whose independent spirit sustains life and inspires us.
Beekeeping runs deep in our family, rooted in tradition yet evolving with the rhythms of Hawai‘i. To us, honey isn’t just a harvest—it’s a reflection of patience, wonder, and the joy of simple moments.
As part of the local beekeeping community, we celebrate pollinators, sustainability, and the natural abundance of this island—sharing the sweetness of life in harmony with the land.

Haiku & Honey
Honey is nature’s poetry, shaped by time, seasons, and the quiet rhythm of bees. Haiku mirrors this—capturing fleeting moments, distilling beauty into delicate lines. Both are small yet profound, speaking to those who pause and savor.

"Golden hum fills the air,
Hāmākua’s wings in flight,
Sweet gifts in the sun."

This haiku, written for our bees, is a tribute to their tireless work and the land that nurtures them. Like poets shaping verses, bees dance to communicate—gentle vibrations, precise movements, and unseen whispers carried on the breeze. Their dialogue is instinctive yet intricate, much like the rhythm of a well-crafted haiku.

A season of flavor, a season of words
Just as honey shifts with the blooms of the land, poetry changes with time and perspective. Every harvest brings a new taste—sometimes bright and citrusy, sometimes floral and soft—just as each haiku captures a singular, irreplaceable moment.
Savor the poetry
Enjoy a spoonful of honey while reading a poem, let the sweetness linger as words unfold. Pair it with quiet contemplation, a handwritten verse, or the hum of bees drifting through warm air. This is honey in its purest form—an experience, a pause, a feeling.

Pairing with Hawai'ian mythology
Honey, much like the land, carries an innate balance. In Hawaiian legend, this harmony is embodied by Poliʻahu, the snow goddess of Mauna Kea, whose cool embrace nurtures the fertile slopes below.
The Hāmākua Coast, on the eastern flank of Mauna Kea, is shaped by Poliʻahu’s presence. It is her playground—a land of flowing streams and deep valleys where she once raced down the mountainside on wooden hōlua sleds. She would glide toward the ocean in a spirited challenge, leaving echoes of her grace in the land itself.
She contrasts Pele, the volcano goddess, whose fiery spirit shapes the land in a dance of creation and change.
Together, they embody opposing forces, yet their contrast creates balance—much like the warmth and coolness found in honey’s depths.
